Gothia Cup

The Gothia Cup is one of the most prestigious football tournaments in the world! Players selected for the Prep Schools Squad will be offered the opportunity to play in this incredible event.

Gothia Cup 2025 is from 14th July to 19th July.  It is our intention for teams to depart on 11th, 12th or 13th July depending on flight availability and return the following weekend. Matches start on Monday 14th July and the Finals are played on the 18th and 19th July.

Over 80 nations will take part in the tournament, bringing together some of the most talented youth footballers in the world. The Opening Ceremony will take place in the world famous Ullevi stadium, with over 52,000 people in the crowd.

The tournament finals will be watched by 30,000 spectators and broadcast all over the world.

The trip includes:

  • Tournament Entry Fees
  • Accommodation (usually 7 nights) in Gothenburg
  • All travel in and around Gothenburg
  • Opening Ceremony Tickets
  • Catering from Sunday to Saturday lunchtime
  • Provision for shipping equipment to Gothenburg
  • 24 hour care from staff including UEFA and FA Qualified Coaches
  • 24 hour access to our medical team including Chartered Physiotherapists and Sports Therapists
  • Option to fly with the team or with parents

During their trip the players will receive top quality coaching and attend workshops run by the coaching staff and physiotherapists on issues such as nutrition and hydration, sports psychology and injury prevention. Off the pitch the players will meet and make friends with players from different cultures and backgrounds. Outside and match and training times, the players will enjoy leisure activities in Gothenburg. The tournament will be great fun and a fantastic environment for the players to develop both as footballers and as individuals.

How it works

Each player is assigned to a squad according to their year of birth (not their UK school year). This is so the team is eligible to compete according to international age divisions.

This means players in the same class at school who are born in different calendar years will fall into different age divisions and therefore into different squads.

Each team will be made up from a mixture of ‘A’ squad players and Development squad players all born between January and December of the same year.

During the Gothia Cup, each team will be supervised and looked after by a minimum of two members of staff who are specifically responsible for the players in their team for the entirety of the trip.

Details of the Staff allocated to each team will be published on the team’s squad page before the trip and we aim for the players to meet the staff at the Easter Training Camp.

Outside of matches the staff will conduct training sessions, football based workshops and leisure activities for the players.
